Introduction to Plumbing
Water has been considered as the most valuable ware on earth since the advent of human civilization. It holds an exceptional spot in human life, as it is viewed as the wellspring of life, and the medium through which people scrub their bodies and spirits before religious prayers. In bone-dry regions, for example, gulf countries like UAE, OMAN etc and the rest of Arabian Peninsula, water plays a prominent role in the way of life, as it determines where human population would establish their trading routes and animal gazing grounds.
Today, Most of the gulf countries are totally dependent upon the desalination of Ocean water to deliver potable water, which is bought to the purchasers, frequently through organization of pipes that reach out to many kilometers.
The plumbing and sanitary system is a fundamental part of each house or building. Appropriate preparation and planning of plumbing framework is critical as it takes care of the cleanliness necessities of the tenants. It has been accounted that, around 8% of the development cost of a structure is set apart for plumbing and sanitary works.
A Plumber's work job comprises of establishment, fix, upkeep and adjusting of plumbing fittings and apparatuses. Other than having a careful arrangement of the components expected for performing different assignments, a plumber ought to be relentless, have viable relational abilities and be an outcome arranged specialist with an uplifiting perspective.
As we all know that, water is provided to a house or a building from capacity tanks through pipes. Likewise, the waste water from kitchen and washrooms is emptied out with the assistance of pipes. Any building, be it a residential, commercial, or industrial, can't work as expected without having plumbing and sanitary plans in place. It is, therefore, crirically important to have customary and sufficient water supply, furthermore and appropriate plumbing system for the removal of waste water.
Plumbing cycle alludes to a system through which water is taken from a source, then, at that point, provided to the clients, lastly waste water is gathered and reused to the source after appropriate treatment.
Plumbing and pipe fittings play a signficant job in the development of a wide range of buildings. A productive plumbing work keeps the climate liberated from terrible stench and guarantees better disinfection. "The ability and workmanship that is expected to transport water from the source to the clients, then, at that point, to the treatment plants, lastly providing the treated water to the clients through a dispersion pipe network is known as plumbing." It is a system of pipes and pipe fittings that carry water.
Sanitary work refers to carrying the waste water to the waste removal network (Sewerage Network) through plumbing installations. The pipes establishment is represented by the guidelines and rules took on by the concerned civil authorities or councils of various states and union territories. Plumbing and sanitary work hence assumes a significant part in the development of any building.
In this system, various pipes are used for various purposes. The plumbing network includes:
1. Water supply, galvanized iron (or plastic) pipes and fixtures.
2. Soil pipes and fixtures (Soil pipes are usually 4 inches.)
3. Rainwater or Stormwater drainage system.
For a proficient plumbing system, it is mandatory that the standard plumbing and sanitary fixtures, as per the required authority of that country or state , are used. It is likewise vital that quality workmanship, reasonable checks and management are guaranteed during plumbing and sanitary work. It helps in getting the best out of talented and untalended labours.
Prior to beginning the work, the plumber should keep the following focuses into thought.
1. Water supply System: wellsprings of perfect and consumable water.
2. Plumbing installations and lines: information about various necessities and particulars.
3. Sanitary and drainage system: Information about sewerage systems.
4. Rainwater or storm water system.
5. Plumbing drawing and their uses. Role of plumbing drawing.
When laying the pipes for plumbing one must take utmost care regarding the slope and gradient of the pipes and ground level. As we all know that, in plumbing all the drainage water will flow with gravity, so slope is very important. If proper slope has not been decided during the design of plumbing networks, the waste water will not flow as per the requirement, Hence proper slope should be given to all the drainage pipes, and there is no any hindrance to the flow.
Once all the waste water is channeled, it will finally reach the FIC (Final Inspection chamber), and from there it will be connected to the Municipality or authority Chamber. The other case may arise is, all the drainage waste may get diverted to the Septic tank created at the nearby location.
As more and more drainage pipes are connected together, from various points, the Diameter of the resultant pipe keeps increasing. The pipe sizes from sanitary fixtures will be smaller as compared to the pipe sizes that connect at the final point, in the authority chamber or the Septic tank.
In most of the Plumbing systems, there are mainly four type of pipes, Waste pipe, Soil pipe, Vent pipe, and Rainwater pipe. Waste pipe will carry the waste water from wash basins, sinks etc. whereas Soil pipes will carry the soil wastes from the water closets, soil pipes are always larger in diameter than the waste pipes. Vent pipes are connected in between the networks so that odour is released at the top of the building. Rain water pipes are used to divert the rainwater from the building to the outside or it is collected in a rain water storage tank, which can be further used for irrigation purposes.
Residential drainage systems remove excess water from residential Areas. There are mainly four types of residential drainage systems. They are, Surface drainage systems, subsurface drainage systems, slope drainage systems and Downspout or gutter drainage systems.
