What is an air handling unit?

 An Air-Handling Unit (AHU) is used to provide regulated temperature and humidity conditions inside buildings, especially data centers. In buildings that handle multiple rooms, they can be installed at each individual room level instead of having one large AHU for the entire building.

 Air handler/cooling system – air circulation equipment that brings conditioned air into space either passively or through active methods (e.g., forced air). An air-conditioning unit consists of a compressor, condenser coil, expansion valve(s), evaporator coil, blower motor, ductwork, and registers. In addition to cooling, air handlers may also supply temperature-controlled fresh air to residential spaces, commercial buildings, and other enclosed areas. A heat pump works similarly to an air conditioner; however, instead of extracting heat from the outdoor environment to cool the indoor space, the heat pump extracts heat from the inside of the house and transfers it outside.

The air handling unit (AHU) consists of the control system and the equipment that moves the air through the building. The AHU has a large effect on the efficiency of the whole greenhouse. A properly working AHU is essential in maintaining optimal conditions for your plants. If your greenhouse does not have any air handlers then you need to replace the old one today. You should be looking for a model that can provide the exact amount of air needed at a specific temperature. There are many different parts to this piece of equipment. All pieces of the unit must work together effectively for maximum efficiency. For example, if the blower motor loses power, the rest of the unit cannot function correctly. If the filter becomes clogged, the blower cannot move enough air to circulate around the room properly. 

Air handling units (AHU) are used in HVAC systems to provide air for climate control. These units may also be equipped with filters, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, heat exchangers, and other devices that allow the temperature and humidity of the air supplied to an area to be controlled. They have two basic components: 1) a blower to move air through the system; 2) a cooling coil or heating coils to cool or heat the air as desired.

Air ducts can be made from steel, copper, vinyl, aluminum, stainless steel, fiberglass, polyurethane, flexible plastic, PVC, rigid plastic, or any combination thereof. An air duct connects the AHU to a venting point. The size determines how much space the air takes up. Smaller vents take less space but lower airflow rates. Larger vents take more room but provide greater airflow.

A variety of materials can be used for the construction of an air duct. Most commonly, aluminum and steel are used due to their lightweight, low cost, ease of installation, and high durability. Some materials do not easily corrode, however, they cannot withstand extreme temperatures like steel or aluminum. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a popular material due to its relatively low cost, ease of use, and ability to resist extremes in temperature and weather conditions.

There are three types of air handlers in HVAC systems: single-stage, two-stage, and variable speed. Single-stage units are generally smaller than two-stage and variable speed. Two-stage units have a higher capacity than single-stage units. Variable speed units operate at different speeds depending on the needs of the environment being serviced. In both two-stage and variable-speed units, fans are used to force air into the ductwork and out the exhaust port.

A high volume low pressure (HVLP) air handler is designed to handle large volumes of air at lower pressures than conventional units. HVP systems are used where the flow rate through ducts may exceed 300 cubic feet per minute (CFM).

Air handler units are used to condition air inside your home or building. They are used in HVAC systems in order to regulate the temperature and humidity levels of the rooms. The best type of air handlers can filter out allergens and airborne particles that cause illness and discomfort. They typically include filters, dampers, heat exchangers, blowers, motors, sensors, and other components.

The airflow rate through a particular duct can be measured in CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute). Duct size and the number of registers determine how much air moves through a particular area. In general, the higher the CFM rating of an AHU, the larger the capacity of its fans and the longer the run time at any given speed. This is due to the fact that the airflow rate increases as the square root of the airspeed. A fan rated at 5 HP will provide approximately 250 CFM into a 6'x6'x10' opening, while a 10HP fan provides about 1,800 CFM into the same space.

The Air Handling Unit (AHU) is a device that works to keep the air clean while filtering out harmful pollutants like dust, pollen, and mold spores. This technology has now been implemented into the cannabis industry for its ability to filter out contaminants from the air.

Air handling units are designed to provide clean air to a given space while removing stale air from that same space. Air handlers are used in commercial building HVAC systems as well as residential HVAC systems. In addition to being used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, air handlers can also serve as dehumidifiers and humidifiers.
