        In this part 17th of the full plumbing course, we will learn about water side equipments.

Transfer pumps

The transfer pump is a device that moves fluid from one place to another. In this case, it's moving water from your sump pump (or reservoir) to your sprayer. Plumbers use these devices to fill swimming pools, clean gutters, and do much more. Here are some examples of where they're used in homes.

Sump Pump

This is one of the most common applications of a transfer pump. A sump pump sits at the bottom of a sink or a wet area in your home and keeps this region free of standing water. When it senses rising levels, it sends an electric signal through its control line to start transferring water into a larger container or tank. That way, any water that collects in the drain can be drained away instead of building up pressure inside pipes.

Sprinkler System Transfer Pump

A sprinkler system typically includes a few different components like valves, sensors, controllers, and even a transfer pump. The reason these parts are combined is so that water can be delivered properly throughout the garden. They include a small pump that moves the water from a low point to a higher location. This can be done in several locations around your yard or even in multiple places. Water then flows through a pipe to each part of the irrigation system.

Booster pumps

Booster pumps are designed to provide continuous flow at higher pressures than typical garden hoses can handle. This helps prevent sediment from clogging your pipes and keeps things clean and flowing smoothly. They are especially useful if you have multiple showers or sinks that run water simultaneously, and they tend to work best with large diameter tubing. Most booster pumps come with two different heads; one that fits over the end of the pipe and then has a flexible hose that goes into the sink or shower. If you need to get cleaner water from farther away, simply attach a second head to the pump and move it closer to where you need the water.
         There are two types of booster pumps that can be used in any type of plumbing system. Pumping systems exist throughout your house, from those in the basement to faucets and toilets. These devices use water pressure to force fluid through pipes. There are two different types of pump systems. One is called the Positive Displacement Pump System and the other is the Centrifugal Pump System. Both work very similarly, however they each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Positive displacement pumps are considered to be a better option given how they require less maintenance. They have no moving parts, but rather rely on the pressure of water to move fluids through them. This makes them less prone to wear and tear. However, these pumps do not provide the kind of power needed in some applications. When installing a positive displacement pump in a high-volume flow application, you need to consider the size of the motor needed. A large amount of horsepower is required to create enough pressure to push water through a pipe system. Most homeowner’s are unlikely to be able to purchase a suitable pump for this purpose.

Centrifugal pumps are designed to create much higher pressures than positive displacement pumps. In fact, they are capable of creating upwards of ten times more pressure. This means that centrifugal pumps are ideal for pumping very large volumes of water. While they may be more expensive to purchase, centrifugal pumps are more reliable due to their simpler design. Centrifugal pumps also allow for more customization. You can choose between single or double stage centrifugal pumps. Single stage models are typically the best choice for residential applications. Double stage ones are usually better suited for commercial purposes.
